Preserving PLC's Legacy One Costume At a Time

Jhouse-Rock is overseeing auctions on behalf of PLC's management. Upon receiving news of the sale of Psycho le Cemu's costumes, a few of us began to think what a shame it was that these costumes would be lost to private buyers. Even though they were in storage anyway, there was the general belief amongst us that they would one day be seen again. It was not the decision of the members to sell these costumes, which have a place in so many fans' hearts and in Japanese music history. A number of PLC's costumes, beginning with their China outfits will be auctioned; if these auctions are successful they will move on to costumes with more sentimental value.

We believe that Psycho le Cemu has a special place in Japanese culture and rock history, and their legacy should be preserved. This is why a group of American fans have formed Psycho Society. Our goal is to "save" as many costume pieces as we can. Our idea is that we would like to purchase costume pieces and display them, along with photographs, tour goods, and videos, as part of a moving museum. We would like to display them at conventions so that a large number of fans could continue to enjoy them. Since we are fairly certain that the members of PLC must feel a sentimental attachment to these costumes, and since one never knows what will occur in the future, we would return the costumes to the members of PLC if they wanted or needed to use them again in the future. These costumes should be cared for and preserved for all fans, and to honor the legacy of Psycho le Cemu.

We are still discussing fundraising ideas that will defray the costs of display, storage, care, and the purchase of the costumes. Until all of our options have been considered we will gladly accept any general donations. Please visit our shop, where you can purchase rare Psycho le Cemu goods to help our cause, without the hassles of overseas shipping.

One of our main goals is to keep the bidding on these auctions low so that we can acquire as many pieces for the museum as possible. This project will take some time to complete and will be an ongoing effort, but we'd like to ask your support in this matter in any way you are able and willing. Together we can save the magical memories and protect the costumes for the possibility that they might one day be worn on stage again, by their rightful owners.

Psycho le Cému（サイコ・ル・シェイム）の衣装を販売するというＪ-ハウスロックのニュースレターを読んでから、私はこれらの衣装を個人バイヤーたちに売ってしまうことの愚かさと悲しさについて考えるようになりました。衣装は倉庫に保管されたままですが、多くのファンたちはそれらがいつかきっと倉庫から出され、再び日の目に当たると信じています。Psycho le Cému（サイコ・ル・シェイム）は日本の文化やロックの歴史において特別な存在であり、その伝統は大切に守られてゆくべきです。アメリカのファンたちがサイコソサイエティーを設立したのも、まさにこうした理由からでした。私たちの目標は、出来るだけ多くの衣装ピースを“救う”ことです。そして移動式のミュージアムとして、写真やツアーグッズ、ビデオなどと一緒に、私たちが購入した多くの衣装ピースを展示してゆきたいと考えています。出来るだけ多くのファンの方たちにこれからも楽しんでもらえるよう、コンベンションの場においても展示してゆきたいと思っています。PLCのメンバーたちは衣装に愛着を感じているでしょうし、将来どうなるかなど誰にもわかりません。ですから、もしメンバーの人たちが、将来衣装をまた使いたいと思うのなら、私たちは衣装を彼らに返すつもりです。Psycho le Cému（サイコ・ル・シェイム）の伝説を称えるためにも、衣装はファンのために大切に保管されるべきです。
これまでの私の経験から、多くのコンベンションは日本の文化や音楽を広めるために活動するグループへの支援を惜しまないようです。衣装の展示、保管、手入れにかかる費用を賄う資金を集めるアイディアについても今話し合っているところです。わたしたちはファンのなかから数人を選んで、彼らに衣装の展示の準備、人の手配、宣伝などを手伝ってもらうことを計画しています。このプロジェクトは時間がかかり、日々進展してゆくものです。もし何か支援していただけることがございましたら、なんでも結構ですのでぜひ私たちに力を貸してください。いつもながら貴重なお時間を割いてご協力いただき本当に有難うございます。そして是非とも今後の展開を見守り続けてくださるようお願いいたします。私たちがともに行動すれば、きっとあの素敵な思い出と衣装をまもることができるはずです。真のオーナーたちに纏われ、衣装が再びステージに上がる日も夢ではありません。
